KARUAH!  ON THE MAP!  Awesome!

SPECTACULAR WEEKEND – 5th & 6th October 2012

Friday Night almost 100 people, men, women and children, young and old enjoyed stories of early history, timber and the fabulous 1937 movie called “Tall Timbers”.

There were wonderful scenes of lifesavers in 1937 fashion costumes and dramatic rescues, all in black and white.

Great Supper after too.

Anyone interested in Karuah History contact Benita 49975109 or Lloyd 49975943.We are looking for photo's, memorabilia and people to join our mailing list or help with the proposed museum.

Many thanks to the Karuah Local History Group for turning on such a great night.

Saturday the town buzzed with activity starting with a car-boot sale at the Karuah Centre with lots of treasures and more food, followed, further down the street, by The Karuah Monthly Markets with mouth watering goodies on several stalls backed up by the best little Op Shop in the town.

Great work stallholders. Then on down the road to Longworth Park....

THE TIMBER AND OYSTER FESTIVAL was a hive of activity from 6am-6pm with wood chips flying everywhere, stalls and music and dance on stage. The spectacle of Chain Saw Biscuit cutting had to be seen to be believed. One cutter produced 15 biscuits stacked one on top of the other in a near record time. Come back again boys.

However highlight of the Wood chop was the Memorial Cut where elimination through a series of heats led to Dale Ryan winning the Darrell Johnson Memorial 300mm Standing Block Handicap.

(This Golden Axe Perpetual Trophy will be on permanent display at the RSL).

Of interest - it was Darrell’s nephew, Brad Delosa, who was placed second!

The day finished in our Karuah RSL Club where the Cross-cut saws and standing cuts wood chop were in action in the packed Auditorium.   If you missed it this year then don’t miss it next year when we come ‘back to Karuah’

On Sunday in the town, our newly branded Servo, the Karuah Centre and other businesses rounded off a busy weekend.   Go Karuah!
